What an awesome couple of hours sitting with Nick Stephan the past couple of days. Nick has down syndrome, he is full of life and just exudes happiness and love. He is here in Kansas hunting with Phillip Vanderpool and I at Triple H Outfitters with his father and uncle. Donovan Huehl and family at Triple H donated this hunt to him earlier in the year and we had decided we were going to video it for The Virtue TV. Off to the blind Nick and I went this morning, he started grunting on his new duel doubleback grunt call just after daylight and out popped a small buck he passed the evening before. Around 8 o'clock after two smaller bucks came by us at 20 yards I turned around and was watching the milo field behind us and after glassing for 10 minutes or so he tapped me on shoulder "big buck coming, big buck coming" and in front of us was a 10 point buck at 25 yards, Nick pulled the trigger on his crossbow and his first Kansas buck was history, and the celebration began! Thanks for letting us hunt with you Nick. The lord has done great things for us and we are filled with joy ~ psalm 126:3
